Paperweight class - Ola and Erica

Glass artist Ola Höglund offers an opportunity to try your hands at glass making. These classes are the perfect introduction to hot glass with lots of fun! No previous experience is necessary, and each participant will enjoy the easy step-by-step learning process taught by a skilled and friendly instructor while they make their own colourful glass object.

Demonstrations and ‘hands-on’ experience will introduce basic glassmaking techniques.

MAKE YOUR OWN GLASS PAPERWEIGHT – DURING THE GO TROPPO ARTS FESTIVAL

ONE HOUR – WORKSHOP

Novice Level – No prior experience is necessary!    

These classes are designed for beginners with no previous glass experience. Under the guidance of Ola Höglund, each participant will be able to design a unique and colourful paperweight and assist in the process of turning molten glass into a personal keepsake, or special one-of-a-kind gift.

Only 2 students in each session – the small class size allows for maximum interaction, creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Dates:                         Sat 3rd, Sun 4th, Mon 5th and Tue 6th October 2009

Time:                11.00 am – 12.00           1pm – 2pm

Location:         Höglund Art Glass Studio, 580 Whyanbeel Road, Whyanbeel Valley.

Drive 40 minutes north of Port Douglas to Whyanbeel Valley via Mossman and Miallo. The studio is towards the end of Whyanbeel Road. Cross the Schultz Bridge and continue until you see the sign and the red flags on the right hand side. Please park by the side of the road.

Cost:                $245 per student

Includes:         One paperweight made by the participant

Paperweights made during the workshop will be annealed in the kiln over night, ground and finished by Ola when cooled and available to uplift from the Sugar Wharf on Sunday 10th. (or shipping can be organised)
